¿MIEMBRO DEL FEST?

OBJETIVOS DE LA ASOCIACIÓN

Los objetivos de la asociación son:

Avanzar en la educación del público con respecto al conocimiento del arte, práctica y valor de la narración oral y en el conocimiento de las tradiciones orales de todas las gentes y culturas del mundo por medio de la promoción, la investigación y la transmisión de la narración oral y de las historias ya sea de forma local, regional o internacional, formal e informalmente.

Toda Inglaterra y Gales.

La revista Storylines es una publicación que llega más allá de nuestros asociados. También publicamos unas newsletters regionales todos los meses, en las que se incluye información de los eventos públicos de narración oral, cursos, festivales, y cualquier otra noticia de interés. Estas newsletters están abiertas a cualquiera que esté interesado y diseñadas para que lleguen a los medios, a las fundaciones, educadores y bibliotecas así como a los responsables públicos del área de cultura y grupos de voluntariado.

La Sociedad para la Narración Oral acoge a narradores profesionales y amateurs, folcloristas, profesores y bibliotecarios, investigadores, de hecho cualquiera que tenga interés en la narración oral puede ser miembro y es por eso por lo que somos la Sociedad para la Narración Oral no para los narradores orales. 

¿TRABAJA EN EL ÁREA DE FORMACIÓN DE NUEVOS NARRADORES? EN CASO AFIRMATIVO, ¿EXISTE ALGUNA ESCUELA DE NARRADORES VINCULADA A LA ASOCIACIÓN?

En nuestros encuentros anuales se incluyen talleres de narración oral y ayudamos a poner en marcha talleres por todo el país.

¿ORGANIZA LA ASOCIACIÓN ALGÚN FESTIVAL O CICLO DE NARRACIÓN ORAL? ¿CUÁL? ¿EN QUÉ FECHA SE CELEBRA Y DÓNDE? EXPLICAR BREVEMENTE LAS CARACTERÍSTICAS BÁSICAS QUE DEFINEN AL FESTIVAL O CICLO.

El encuentro anual en abril coincide con la asamblea general de socios y está abierto tanto a los socios como al público en general. Ver en www.sfs.org.uk donde pone Annual Gathering. En algunas ocasiones servimos de impulso, damos consejo, promovemos y financiamos a grupos que estén comenzando un nuevo festival. Por ejemplo: Somerset Storyfest.

La Sociedad actúa como socio fundador y fuente de información para la semana nacional de narración oral que se lleva a cabo durante nueve días desde el último sábado de enero. Todos los eventos se promueven a nivel local por sus organizadores y la sociedad ofrece asesoramiento y ayuda con el marketing. Normalmente hay más de 1000 eventos que tienen lugar en esta semana de nueve días.

¿COLABORA ACTUALMENTE CON ALGUNA OTRA ASOCIACIÓN EUROPEA? ¿CUÁL ES SU LÍNEA DE TRABAJO EN COMÚN?

A día de hoy no, aparte de la asistencia a la reunión anual de la FEST. 

PROYECTOS EN MARCHA ACTUALMENTE 

Planificación de los encuentros anuales de 2016, 2017 and 2018; 

Promoción de la Semana Nacional de Narración Oral; 

Trabajamos en prestigiar la revista Storylines como referente en la narración oral; 

Recopilamos podcasts de ejemplos de narración oral; 

Trabajamos en la mejora del acceso del público a los narradores orales y a los clubes de narración oral y en un esquema de mentorado. 

¿CONSIDERA IMPORTANTE AÑADIR ALGO MÁS?

La Sociedad financia y ayuda en la promoción de la competición anual “Jóven Narrador oral del año”. La final tiene lugar anualmente en marzo.

The objects for which the Society is established are:

To advance the education of the public in the knowledge of the art,practice and value of oral storytelling, and in the knowledge of the oral traditions of all the peoples and cultures of the world by actively promoting the exploration and sharing of oral storytelling and stories whether locally, regionally or internationally, formally or informally.

Storylines magazine, a marketed publication we are promoting beyond our membership. These newsletters are open to anyone, designed also to reach media, funding bodies, educators and libraries and local authority arts departments and are compiled and published by volunteer members.

WHAT IS THE PROFILE OF THE ORGANIZATION´S MEMBERS: PROFESSIONAL STORYTELLERS, AMAUTEUR STORYTELLERS, BEGINNERS, AUDIENCE, RESEARCHERS, ETC.? IF IT iS A HETEROGENEOUS PROFILE, PLEASE SPECIFY. 

It is all of those things. The Society for Storytelling welcomes storytellers professional and amateur, folklorists, teachers and librarians, researchers, in fact anybody who has an interest in oral storytelling can be a member and this is why it is a Society for Storytelling, not just for storytellers.

DOES THE ORGANIZATION FORM NEW STORYTELLERS? 

Our annual Gatherings (see below) include storytelling workshops, and we help to promote storytelling workshops across the country.

DO YOU ORGANISE ANY FESTIVALS OR STORYTELLING EVENT? 

Annual Gathering each April to coincide with the Annual General Meeting. Open to members and the public. Go to www.sfs.org.uk and follow the link to Annual Gathering. We occasionally offer seed funding, advice, promotion and support to groups starting new storytelling festivals, e.g. Somerset Storyfest.

The Society acts as founder and information source for National Storytelling 

Week, which runs annually for nine days from the last Saturday in January. All events are promoted locally by their own organisers and the Society supports with marketing help and advice. DO YOU COLLABORATE WITH ANY OTHER EUROPEAN ORGANIZATION? 

To date, no, other than attendance annually at the FEST conference.

WHAT PROJECTS ARE YOU WORKING ON NOWADAYS?

Planning for Annual Gatherings for 2016, 2017 and 2018; increasing awareness of National Storytelling Week; garnering more recognition of Storylines as an authoritative journal on storytelling; compiling audio examples of storytelling for podcasts; improving access of audiences to storytellers and storytelling clubs nationwide; forming a mentoring scheme.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO ADD ANYTHING? 

The Society supports and helps to promote, the annual competition for "Young Storyteller of the Year". The finals are held annually in March.
