Virginia Imaz narrates in Basque and Castilian Spanish.

I was born in Spring 1962 into two worlds: the one they call real and the one that comes in through the door that is the story. I have made my nest in this magical threshold. When I was a little girl I was lucky enough to have so many people around me who told stories that I thought that telling stories was to be someone and I tried to speak with that voice which is older than the hills and to evoke the memories of those who came before me in this business of living. That is how I started, lighting up memories in order to burn fears and be seared by desires.

I need to hear and tell stories as much as I need to breathe. I have been telling stories professionally since 1984; stories that I have heard, read or have made up, although they all have something in common: they are stories that have touched me, inspired me or enlightened me through life’s adventures. I have told stories in all sorts of places and to people of all ages, wrecks and dreams. The stories get polished along the way, they change and they change me. I am often asked if I can live from storytelling. All I know is that I can’t live without it.
