   About

Hi, I am Mariano Lasheras, and I have been putting a lot of stories and theatre in my life for over 25 years, most of the time as an actor or storyteller, but sometimes writing or directing other crazy people in the theatre and oral narration. So don't ask me to fix a tap or look after your dog...because I am sure that it would end in tragedy.

I decided to relearn how to "play a role" ( I like play more than perform, which sounds too serious) at the Municipal School of Theatre in Zaragoza. Subsequently I took various courses on the art of making people laugh...or cry, with people who knew a lot about that, such as John Strasberg, Boris Rothestein, or Miguel Garrrido, among others.

I have brought to the stage various tales by classical and contemporary authors aimed at all types of audience, and I particularly like reinventing legends from the oral tradition which feature humour or audience participation. I have told stories in small libraries and large auditoriums, in prisons and palaces; I enjoy the pleasure of telling and sharing stories, and I like it when the audience also enjoys what they are hearing.

I have taken part in educational programmes and campaigns promoting initiation in reading, I have given workshops revolving around the oral tradition, and I have taken my stories to festivals, gatherings, etc. throughout practically the whole of Spain. And I have worked with writers and illustrators whom I admire and those whom I have the good fortune to consider friends, such as Daniel Nesquens, Fernando Lalana, Alberto Gamón or Elisa Arguilé.

Finally, a confession: I believe that despite having spent 25 years dedicating my time exclusively to this profession, I am convinced that I am still an apprentice in the difficult art of storytelling.
